Product Manager- ESG Products, Impact Offering

About the Role

The Impact product team oversees product development and innovation within our impact solutions suite; and manages the product portfolio in alignment with corporate priorities. The team is seeking a passionate professional to support the development, commercialization, and maintenance of strategically important impact research products that support Morningstar and Sustainalytics’ clients growing needs for data and insights to assess the impact performance of companies .

As a n impact solutions product manager you will support the lead product manager in setting strategic product priorities in line with commercial goals and managing the development of these priorities within the product development lifecycle. It is an exciting opportunity for someone with interest in the positive impact investors can make. You will join a dynamic and strategically important team and contribute to the development of a vibrant community of product managers at Morningstar Sustainalytics.

 

You will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to help manage and further develop the use cases and contribute to the commercial success of our research and data products. Furthermore, in the role you will become content expert involved in answering client queries and joining client presentations.

 

Our products have a profound impact on the investment value chain. Therefore, the ideal candidate will have experience in product development in the financial services industry and application of ESG in an investment process. You will be responsible for managing the development of new product features; supporting client and sales teams to achieve commercial goals. The role blends product management functions with overseeing product feature implementation while working with internal stakeholders across the company to deliver commercial success.

This multifaceted role requires someone who excels in a dynamic environment, has strong analytical skills, is a creative problem solver and an exceptional communicator. Role & Responsibility:

  • Support the development of client and market-centric product development roadmaps by conducting cost/benefit analysis.
  • Lead the execution of new product features, collaborating with internal stakeholders (including methodology, research, IT, and product operations) and overseeing the development lifecycle to bring these enhancements to market.
  • Supporting the client and sales teams to achieve commercial goals through coordination of training sales teams on products, and contribute to client materials.
  • Contribute to developing market leading product portfolio seeking cross-product synergies and opportunities .
  • Position the ESG business involvement products and its related services for strong commercial success, collaborating with client-facing teams to ensure that client communications are clear, incoming questions are answered, product deficiencies are resolved as quickly as possible, and new product features or extensions improve a client’s ability to assess ESG risk s and opportunities .
  • As a subject-matter expert, provide insights on the ESG market landscape and work with commercial teams to understand client needs that inform product strategy and development priorities; translate insights into actionable product enhancements.

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in related discipline (business, economics, environment and/or social sciences) or Bachelor’s degree with the equivalent, relevant experience.
  • At least 2+ years of relevant work experience, especially related ESG, sustainability and/or responsible investment.
  • Strong commercial and analytical skills with curiosity and a drive to stay on top of market trends and developments to support the development of client and market-centric product development roadmaps.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with ease and manage competing interests to deliver strategic projects efficiently and effectively, compromising where needed.
  • Experience working with ESG and corporate data, data teams and software development teams is an asset. Experience developing and executing an implementation plan for a product vision or strategy.
  • Experience working with clients in the financial services industry or in a strategic consulting role is an asset.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (both in spoken and written formats), e.g., strategic plan development, ppt skills, client interaction skills.
  • The ideal candidate needs to be a driven team player who can both succeed individually, as well as reach goals through close collaboration with other teams (including technology, data & content operations, client services).
