Rare are looking for an Art Manager to join our Studio Team. Reporting to the Senior Art Manager this role will support, mentor and grow a talented team of artists. The ideal candidate will have outstanding people management, communication and organisation skills and a great understanding of Art Department dynamics within game development.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Sea of Thieves art team in delivering high quality content.
  • Work with both the wider studio team and external parties to ensure art content meets requirements.
  • Identify any skill gaps within the art team and work with the art leadership team to help resolve these.
  • Promote good working practices and high standards across the art content team.
  • Participate in recruitment and help onboard and support new team members.
  • Capable of troubleshooting, guiding, and adjusting ongoing tasks as needed.
  • Build relationships with co-dev Art Managers and Producers to align on and address any possible challenges that could arise.
  • Ensure artwork developed by external partners is held to the same high standards as our own.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • A strong foundation in art content creation and a comprehensive understanding of relevant art and project disciplines.
  • Confident managing a team of artists in a dynamic production environment with experience of performance evaluations and team building.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and an effective communicator.
  • Experience with hiring and interviewing artists.
  • Takes initiative to solve problems with excellent follow-through.
  • Strong experience in an art lead, art direction, or art management role.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Up to date knowledge of current art techniques and software.
  • Familiarity with task management tools.
